Tamazight means “country” in the native language of Tashelheit. It is most commonly used to refer to one’s own land/place of birth, and not just the country of Morocco. To speak of one’s “Tamazight” is to speak with pride of the land of your forefathers, of the long and illustrious history of an ancient group of people who forged a way of life out of the harsh surroundings they were born into. This carpet was hand woven and crafted in the town of Agdz, Morocco, by Naima and Fatima.
