Amaan means “water” in the native language of Tashelheit. Water is everything in the desert, and its inhabitants are well versed in the efficient usage of this scarce resource. From a historical standpoint, even in times where access to water was minimal and the water that was available could not be trusted, Moroccans turned to boiling water and making tea in order to stave off dehydration and ward off the effects of the intense desert heat. This carpet was hand woven and crafted in the town of Agdz, Morocco, by Naima and Fatima.
