Akal means “land” in the native language of Tashelheit. The Amazigh people have an innate connection to nature that has been necessitated by the harsh conditions of the desert climate. It is extremely important for them to understand how to use the limited resources available in order to cultivate the land efficiently and produce the highest yield of crops come harvest time. This carpet was hand woven and crafted in the town of Agdz, Morocco, by Naima and Fatima.
